In the draft of The Waste Land

In the draft:

• Bestows one final patronising kiss,
• And gropes his way, finding the stairs unlit;
• And at the corner where the stable is,
• Delays only to urinate, and spit.

Pound thought Eliot had gone too far with the last two lines and Eliot removed them at his proding. Note though that while Eliot removed other lines outright from the poem (even destroying rhyming patterns), here he left a remnant of the old lines in the form of the ellipses (...) which were not there in the draft.
