In the draft of The Waste Land

In the draft, line 56 was followed by another:

• 56)  I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
• (I John saw these things, and heard them).

In The Waste Land - A Facsimile and Transcript of the Original Drafts Valerie Eliot notes that this is an allusion to The Revelation of St. John the Divine, Chapter 22, verse 8

Here we have Eliot using yet another clairvoyant, following a theme where, in addition to presenting past and present actions, he presents the future through mentions of seers.
